A very democratic Oscar ceremony

It is clear from the results that the issuance of Oscars was very democratic at the Academy Awards (2013). Argo won the best film award and Ang Lee won for best director. Django Unchained, my favourite film of 2012,  won for original screenplay and Best Supporting Actor, Christoph Waltz. Anne Hathaway finally got her comeuppance with Les Miserables. The last time the Oscars were this democratic was in the 2006 ceremony where, surprisingly, Crash won best film and yes Ang Lee won as Best Director for Brokeback Mountain. In that year the Oscars were evenly spread among the top contenders. Similar to 2006 the director of the Best picture, this year winner did not win. The only surprise this year was that Ben Affleck was not nominated. There was something for everyone and reflects the fact that 2012 was a strong year for the film industry as was 2005. I will discuss that later
